LadyBoy
The Verdict
Located on Bridge Road, LadyBoy dining + bar is a playful, modern Thai restaurant with a pop fit-out, creative menu and cheeky drinks list to boot. Below the 'rock out with your wok out' neon sign is an open kitchen, where you can watch the three chefs whip up delicious Thai bites.
The menu is broken down into a few sections: smaller munchables (think soft shell crab sliders with tangy apple slaw or crispy-fried Gai Tod chicken), bigger share plates (the "authentic old-school Pad Thai" is an absolute must) and The Sweet Stuff. If you've saved room for dessert, it's hard to go past Ladyboy's signature ice-cream sliders: warm brioche stuffed with creamy condensed-milk-and-lychee ice-cream.
Ladyboy changed hands in 2017, and is now owned by the guys from Sabai (another Richmond Thai classic). But although there's a new crew running the show, they've been smart enough not to mess with a winning formula. There's still the groovy, neon-lit bar area, plus the expansive courtyard out back. The perfect spot to kick back and try their tongue-in-cheek cocktails (Trans-gin-der, anyone?).
Happy endings guaranteed. Booyeah.
