The Verdict

The guys from Easeys are taking over Melbourne, one kitchen at a time. And we’re pretty bloody happy about it. Now you can get a Rowdy Double Cheeseburger at Easeys in Collingwood, Two Wrongs in South Yarra...and Little Jax in the CBD.

Little Jax is a new brew bar on Swanston St, opposite the RMIT campus. City regulars might remember this as the old Redlove (a cocktail bar and RnB club that’d been there forever). Trust us, this is a big improvement.

The décor got a moody little upgrade for one thing. Climb the underlit stairs and you’ll find exposed brick, neon signage and a well-stocked bar with eight heavy-metal draught points. There’s some good froths on the list too: a Wolf Of The Willows pilsner, Colonial IPA, Kona’s Big Wave golden ale and a couple of excellent Moon Dog brews.

And for food? Our favourite, baby—Easeys. Jimmy “Burgers” Hurlston and Jeremy Gaschk have taken over the kitchen, slinging signature favourites like mac n’ cheese fries, Double Bubble beef burgers, potato cake sangers and good old Easey Cheesy's.

You can enjoy it all on the outside deck space, which overlooks Swanston St down below. A really nice spot in Autumn—it's got a little Brooklyn vibe about it.

Fans of the old Redlove beats will be happy to know the DJ booth is still here. The plan is to run after work drink specials, trivia and Uni nights down the track. In the meantime, you can swing by during the week for specials like burger + fries ($10 with a drink purchase), or two pounds of wings for $20 bucks.

We don’t even know how much a pound is, but you can bet this’ll be popular with the RMIT kids...
