This Melbourne café has gone a little rogue. There’s no smashed avocado, poached eggs or brunch menu in sight—but that doesn’t stop this pint-sized café from attracting a steady stream of caffeine-deprived visitors.

The focus is clearly on quality drinks with a side of flaky, buttery pastries. Coffee is made with Small Batch’s Candyman beans, and we recommend you skip your regular latte in favour of a Michael Jackson—a small espresso shot plus a small milky coffee. Clearly, these rogues know how to appeal to Melburnians.

Delicate, delicious sweet treats from Chez Dré are currently available, or go for a rich, chewy Butterbing cookie to curb your afternoon sugar craving. Bright, warm and endearingly homely, this hole-in-the-wall café is far from a little player in Melbourne’s coffee scene.
