The Verdict
As it turns out, you can judge a book by its cover. Or in this case—a dish.
Long Story Short dishes out insanely Instagram-friendly meals like decadent Buttermilk Tim Tam pancakes with poached Nashis, vanilla peanuts, mascarpone, chocolate soup and crispies topped with Tim Tam gelato. As you might be able to tell, there’s no such thing as a shortcut here. And, in good news for all Port Melburnians, it's now open for dins on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
Specialising in plump, airy homemade brioche buns, it's fair to say Long Story Short is a sweet tooth’s dream. Act like a kid in a candy store and order a gelato and berry stuffed brioche bun for breakfast. The fluffy brioche is encased in dissolvable cotton candy, just to guarantee the ultimate sugar high.
Drinks are an equally extravagant affair, with classic options like hot chocolate served with a paper-thin chocolate web and Long Story Short’s signature #lssorigins. Featuring single origin coffee served three ways from some of Melbourne’s best speciality brewers, the #lssorigins rotates monthly and boasts a trio of caffeine. Because we all have those mornings—sample filter, cold drip and a traditional espresso for a triple coffee hit are all available.
If you’re in need of something a little stronger, we feel you. Long Story Short boasts a curated list of wines, bubbles and beers along with an epic bacon bloody mary. Yep, really.
A minimalist, Scandinavian-inspired interior, Long Story Short features blonde timber and grey tiled floors. Hanging pot plants and lush, green vines finish this sun-facing space. Long Story Short is available for functions, just in case you’re looking for the perfect place to host a chic get-together.
