The Verdict

Blonde timber, mint blue couches and delicate overhanging plants makes newly opened Lt. Osteria a haven away from Melbourne’s monochromatic business district.

Brunch is refreshingly stress-free, because this is a team that knows you don’t have the energy to deal with deconstructed eggs come Monday morning. Featuring impeccable staple options like housemade granola with thick yoghurt, crushed avocado and eggs Florentine on Noisette brioche slathered in housemade hollandaise, it’s unashamedly egg-cellent food.

Lunch brings the option of plump meatballs, roasted lamb shoulder or garlic-tossed pasta. Our pick is the Spaghetti di Gamberi—a cosy bowl of local king prawns, heirloom cherry tomatoes, chilli, garlic and fresh herbs in extra virgin olive oil.

Coffee beans are by Reverence, with a range of allergy-friendly milk including MILKLAB almond and lactose-free milk on offer. If you’re more of a Friday wine-and-dine foodie, you’ll be pleased with Lt. Osteria’s boutique menu of local wines, bubbles and James Boags beer.
