The Verdict
Melbourne’s favourite high tea in the ‘burbs has had a face-lift! Previously Impala and Peacock, the newly opened Mary Eats Cake reflects a more polished high tea menu. Offering both high tea sessions and an a la carte menu, Mary Eats Cake is a must for any tea leaf lover.
We recommend a high tea session with your favourite friends on the weekend. From creamy mushroom, leek and three cheese quiche to delicate chocolate, mint and matcha opera cakes, it’s the perfect excuse for a lazy long afternoon. Keep an eye out for scones that are some of the fluffiest in Melbourne (and we’ve tried a lot of scones…) and intricate salted lemon meringue pies.
Vegan and gluten-free foodies need not worry, with an artisan high tea option that tastes as good as the original! We recommend stretchy pants—there is going to be A LOT of cake.
