THE VERDICT
This new everything venue on the Crown River Walk is the perfect spot for just that: everything. Marmont, heavily inspired by Los Angeles in both decor and menu is a little slice of SoCal on Southbank.
We’re calling it the Arbory Afloat for the southside of the river: think a gorgeous outdoor area with plenty of shade, perfect for sipping proseccos, throwing back oysters, or tucking into more substantial fare.
It’s the vibe that hits you as you cruise past, it’s fresh and it’s fun—and most of all, it’s outside, because we all know Melbourne is seriously lacking in beer garden vibes.
Plonk yourself down and work your way through a very summery cocktail list, our top recs being The Starlet—a politically correct twist on the Pornstar Martini that’s made a comeback, their signature Skinny Margarita (made on tequila not vodka like the U.S. trend, but with no sugar) with a touch of berry liqueur for sweetness or a straight up house martini.
These are complemented by a full food menu with a globetrotting menu spanning calabrian prawns and burrata tomato salads to some hefty and spicy wagyu and lamb, which you can scoop up with corn bread. There's a $90 and $120 feed me if you're feeling lazy, and an excellent bar menu offering up a bangin' cheeseburger, oysters and other picky bits here making sure you'll be sated any time of day.
Be warned, bookings at Marmont are hot property so if the weather’s nice out, make sure you reserve a table and while you're over that way and if you're still hungry hit up Kolkata Cricket Club for a bite.
Head over here to grab your table.
