The Verdict

Named after head chef Jopseph Vargetto's son, Massi is the newest Piedmont establishment to join Melbourne's Little Collins Street. For those of us who are less fortunate to have visited Italy, Piedmont is a lush region bordering France and Switzerland and is renowned for their sophisticated cuisine, which is exactly what you will be expecting from a visit to Massi.

The classically Italian dishes are simple and graceful and will be sure to liven up your palate and your busy work lunch. Think black spaghettini with blue swimmer crab, vongole garlic and chili or perhaps a crumbed veal cotoletta with porcini sauce and crispy onions?

Now, before you start drooling all over your screen, we haven't even gotten to the good part yet. Massi also features a 'Crudo' corner where you can watch their talented chefs freshly slice and prepare a selection of cold meats and terrines just for you! Served with house made sottaceti (pickled vegetables), this is the perfect way to start off your Piedmont experience.

Massi is also open late on Thursdays and Fridays, which makes their enormous marble bar the perfect backdrop to your post-work 'bring on the weekend' drinks. Or, if you're a bit cheeky like us and can't wait till Friday, Massi will also happily serve you a selection of Prosecco spritz, beers and Italian wines during the start of the week. Cheers!
