The Verdict

Found along the thriving Johnston Street in Collingwood, Melvin is one of the latest cafés to have hit the street. You know that any café that opens up along here is going to be serving all the right things in all the right ways, and Melvin Café is no exception. Serving breakfast and lunch 7 days a week, Collingwood has just become that much more exciting with this opening.

Serving ordinary food in extraordinary ways, Melvin Café has a diverse range of food on their menu, and we have to say it’s pretty incredible. Start your day off right with one of their mouthwatering breakfasts. Certain dishes to keep your eye out for have to be their crumpets with jam, berry smoothie bowls, crispy apple pie roti or their chilli scrambled eggs. You can’t go wrong with whatever you choose though.

If you thought their lunch menu wouldn’t be able to top their breakfast one, you’re wrong. Their Southern Fried Chicken Burger is already becoming popular among customers, as well as their Japanese Zen Bowl featuring ingredients like brown rice, pickled cabbage and roast cauliflower. Their real lunchtime favourite, however, would have to be their incredible toasties. From their General Toastie to their Gracie Toastie to their Grozz Toastie, they’ve got toasties on toasties here that are guaranteed not to disappoint.

They also have a delicious range of drinks, including coffees, ‘healthy human’ drinks, market juice and smoothies to help kick-start your day or relax in the afternoon. With bright colours, generous serving sizes and unique twists, Melvin is making its own mark on Melbourne one meal at a time.
