Prahran locals are lucky enough to have local homewares store Milk & Sugar on their doorstep, but as every Melbourne Pinterest-addict knows, Brunswick is the flagship store. The place where it all began. The brand itself was started by Melbourne designers Peter Sinclair and Cameron Taylor back in 2008. Originally they just stocked bamboo salad bowls, but expanded pretty rapidly when they realised their ‘look’ was like catnip to cashed-up Northsiders.
No Milk & Sugar stocks everything from matt black Axel pots (perfect for those artful indoor plants you’re convinced will die within the first two weeks) to bedding, clocks, prints, textiles, tableware and lighting. They only release two carefully curated collections each year, and the new autumn line has gone back to basics with plenty of warm tones and natural fibres. Something cosy but still cool. A tricky balance, but they make it work.
