The Verdict

Things were getting a little out of hand at Moroccan Soup Bar, with lines of devoted, Tupperware-carrying customers lining up out the door. So owner Hana Assafiri has thrown us a line and opened a takeaway spot, Moroccan Soup Bar Two Go.

With a cult northside following, it was only a matter of time before Morrocan Soup Bar expanded. Assafiri has been successfully dishing up North African dips, veggies, soups and stews for over a decade. The vibe has always been casual, and the food is a 10/10 knock-out.

Moroccan Soup Bar Two Go is pretty much more of the same. You can get rice and couscous packs, dhal, salad, pickles and chickpea bake in a smashing $12.50 punnet. There's also vegan and gluten-free lunch packs available. The original site isn't doing takeaway anymore, but this one's only 600m up the road. Just look for the scrimmage of Deliveroo riders.

The menu is completely veggo, as you'd expect, and on top of some cult favourites, the team now offers something new: a Marrakizza pizza. Think thin-crust pastry and with a house-made chermoula and harissa on top. Fan faves like the Harissa Soup and Chickpea Bake are still there. Two Go also lets you order online, and can cater for large groups (if you give them some notice).

While the Two Go obviously has its own sustainable takeaway containers, if you bring your own Tupperware, you'll get a cheeky $2 refund. Nice touch, that. Kind of like a keep cup for dhal.

One last thing worth mentioning: Moroccan Soup Bar Two Go is also the headquarters for the Heart River Project, an initiative that supports refugees and asylum seekers as they establish new lives in Australia. You can find more about them over here
