THE VERDICT
Over recent years, Melbourne Central has continued to strengthen its game as a shopping centre giant. Sephora recently revamped its largest store in the country stocking 140+ renowned brands—as did Mecca when its Little Lonsdale Street space doubled in size last month. Now, one of the leaders in global athletics, New Balance, has entered the chat by opening its huge new store in the old Kookaï digs.
Spanning 300-square meters, the new store stocks the entire New Balance range you know and love plus harder-to-find products made in the US and UK. Excitingly, this includes the new release 1080x14 running shoe—the latest kicks in the Fresh Foam 1080 series, shoppable from October 10.
The centre of the New Balance store is the epicenter of the retail experience—arched seating primed for trying on the latest kicks. Curated clothing racks and displays are peppered throughout the lush, timber-centric space, and each wall is lined with sneakers and apparel neatly categorised by collection. The best part? The dedicated area near the back of the store with carefully arranged cube shelving for shoes exclusively made in the US.
New Balance Melbourne Central is now open on level one.
