The Verdict

The history of Old Man Drew dates back to 1868. This cafe-meets-coffee-house-meets-high-tea-function-room has been a labour of love; which was brought to life by Dorothy Leech and her daughter Emma after their family had owned the property many years prior.

This is a destination for lovers of high-tea, old English cakes, scones and pastries, as well as an appreciation for the history and story behind the place.

From the classical English architecture and warm wooden interior to the brightly lit greenhouse mirror room or vintage fairy garden, there is always something to see.

The Miss Violet tea rooms are spectacular. The pink and blue themed rooms are traditionally dressed with floral print wallpaper, white table cloths, flower arrangement and fine china—it is the perfect place to have your next function.

Old Man Drew also has a wide selection of divine pre-packed delights like jams, sweets, and luxurious cooking oils. The baked goods also pay homage to old style pastries; think chocolate and raspberry lamingtons with raspberry jam and cream, hummingbird cake and gingerbread men.

The breakfast and lunch menu also includes a selection of sweet and savouries that will really blow you away. One of the best sellers are the toasted crumpets with salted caramel sauce, vanilla mascarpone, candied nuts and caramel popcorn.

Another naughty item is the Forest French Toast with housemade sponge cake with a chocolate hazelnut mousse pine cone, a caramelised plum and creme anglaise. For something more savoury, we recommend the home-made hash brown with thick cut bacon, poached eggs and hollandaise sauce.
