The Verdict

Nerds, comic book lovers and anime fans—all your dreams have officially arrived in the form of a humble burger. Based east of Melbourne in Balwyn, One Plus Piece is themed around the popular Japanese manga of the same name. And the team do not take the theme lightly.

Along with a fully themed menu, the space features anime figures, One Piece-inspired furnishings, murals and manga (in case you need a refresher).

The food is better than anything you could read about with freakshakes that are Jenga-stacked with strawberry milkshake, caramel pudding, chocolate cake, candy, fairyfloss and something ~special~ everyday. The team also serve up soft serve in a enormous wedge of watermelon—because life is all about #balance.

If your mama taught you to eat your veggies before dessert, you’re not going to have much luck here. The duck benedict with slow cooked free-range duck is served on a house-made waffle with poached eggs, spicy hollandaise sauce, apple and a bacon crumble.

Our pick of the burger menu is the Northern Fried Chicken Burger with Sriracha and maple glazed bacon, cabbage and carrot slaw, pickles, waffle cut fries and wasabi mayo. Order it with a side of loaded One Piece Chips or Peking Duck chips, and settle into your self-inflicted food coma.
