Overnewton Castle
THE VERDICT
Rarely will you find the words castle and nonchalant in the same sentence, and yet that's Overnewton Castle for you—a delightfully unpretentious escape from the city. In this Bridgerton-esque, heritage-listed homestead, there’s no expectation to frock up, only to soak in the lush surrounds.
Boasting four acres and blending 16th-century English, Scottish and French architecture, you would never guess its location. Situated just 30 minutes out of the CBD and neighbouring Tullamarine airport in Keilor awaits this enchanting Scottish Baronial-style manor.
Constructed in 1849, Overnewton Castle is an impeccably kept homestead worthy of an hour tour (which comes free with any high tea booking). Not to be overlooked are the sprawling gardens in every direction, housing tonnes of great spots to catch some sun and take in the charming views.
Mimosa anyone? Every Wednesday and Sunday the castle opens its doors to the public for a classic high tea–accompanied by the entire Bridgerton soundtrack. Perfect for a regular brunch or a special occasion with the whole family.
Gobble up all the high tea regulars—those tiny crustless sandwiches, so simple, so delicious; plus mini quiche and pie, a few tiny cakes, and of course a basket full of scones of the sweet and savoury varieties. Get booking over here.

Melbourne is no stranger to fashionable punters—after all, the city is dubbed the fashion capital for a reason.
