The Verdict
After a $7 million renovation, the legendary Portsea Hotel is back in business. Just in time for summer.
The Portsea Hotel is best known for its massive beer garden located right on the bay, a place to catch up with mates, have a date, listen to some live music, and just make the most of a warm Peninsula day.
Upon entry to the hotel you’ll be greeted with a rotating art gallery, with a rotating selection of artists, which then leads onto the hotels largest room—Longshore.
Longshore has a large open kitchen with a new menu created by former Grosvenor Hotel head chef—and now Portsea Hotel head chef—Paul Tyas.
The menu is a fresh take on the typical Australian pub meal, and will focus on locally sourced produce.
On the second floor you’ll find Bertrand Bar, which boasts panoramic ocean views, and Cliff’s Bar which is a Californian-inspired burger bar, as well as the RIP Bar—a cocktail bar.
