THE VERDICT

Coming in hot with a revamp and supplying locals with a classic watering hole, blended with bistro flair and old school Melbourne charm, it's the Post Office Club Hotel. This corner joint has secured a spot on our official (but unofficial) Institutions list, pulling beers for the community since 1871.

With a desire to take this gem back to its roots, the Post Office supplies the vibe for all ventures, whether it’s brews and sports or an elevated bistro meal, the true ‘pubness’ of this place has been ressurected.

The food doesn't stray far from the familiar but gratifyingly elevated—think Colac lamb shank, served hot-pot style with Paris mash, caponata and pistachio dukkah, that’s made to melt in your mouth.  But don’t stress if you’re wanting to kick-back with all the flavour and less fuss, there’s also traditional pub grub feeds on offer.

The cherry on top has got to be the upstairs private dining room,  oozing vintage speakeasy energy, inspired by the 19th and 20th century life the pub once lived—yep, we’ll see you at the Postie.
