The Verdict
It’s certainly not located in the middle of the Caribbean Sea, but Spencer Street’s newly opened Caribbean grill and island bar, Pretty Mama, more than makes up for its lack of watery surrounds.
Specialising in all things rum, Pretty Mama’s cocktail menu reads like a rum-bling good dream. Expect smooth, zesty cocktails like the Coconut with Oro: Rum, pineapple, ginger, bitters and limes haken served in a real coconut, hell yes! Shots of quality rum for sipping and a small selection of wine and beer are also on offer.
The Pretty Mama menu is designed to share, with Trinidad goat curry and whole free-range Jamaican jerk chicken jerk-ing (heh) ahead as clear crowd favourites. Unmistakeably designed as a 50's tiki bar, the space features exposed blue and deep brown wood complemented by tropical greenery. Who says you need to jump on a plane to take a trip, hey?!
