The Verdict
If you’re looking for a place to take a load off after a massive week at work, there are few places that will make you feel as at home as you will at Port Melbourne’s Prince Alfred.
Prince Alfred has everything you need in a good pub, an extensive ever-changing list of craft beers on tap, a pool table, food served until late—burgers until midnight—a good helping of classic rock ‘n’ roll tunes, and bartenders that actually know what they’re talking about.
The current owners bought the pub in Grand Final week 2016 in what was a baptism of fire with no staff, no stock, and no systems set up—needless to say it’s much smoother sailing these days with almost three years at the Prince Alfred under their belt.
The pub has plenty of spots to take a load off in the downstairs bar, of if the mood takes you, head upstairs to take advantage of the sunshine in the rooftop deck, or one of the comfy rooms upstairs that are perfect to sit around with mates enjoying some cold ones.
On the food front, the pub serves burgers until midnight on Friday and Saturday night, and a full menu at all other times with plenty of old-school classics to keep you satisfied. We recommend hitting up the Duke Burger with double beef, from the chef who has a background in hatted restaurants—it’ll be the best Quarter Pounder you ever have.

Chapati & Daaru
Chapati's new Crossley Street home continues its reign as one of the city's most vibrant modern Indian kitchens, but it's the daring upstairs addition—Daaru cocktail bar—that's really setting tongues wagging (and burning).
