The Verdict

Looking for a classy stay in the CBD? It’s hard to go past QT. You can’t knock a place that picked up #1 Hotel In Melbourne on Tripadvisor, right?

You’ll find QT perched above Russell St, close to some of the city’s best restaurants (Izakaya Den is just across the street, and if you stroll towards the river you’ll hit Chin Chin, Garden State Hotel and Supernormal). The décor in the lobby is cutting edge industrial boutique...with a touch of whimsy. Expect a mismatch of textures, colours and styles, and the occasional peacock.

The rooms are light and bright, with hand-cut timber floorboards, gel-topped mattresses and glamorous ensuites, but you won’t be spending a lot of time in there. In summer it’ll be straight up to the rooftop bar, where you can soak up some of the best CBD views going around. Pro tip: order up a few plates of the fried chicken bao with kimchi and hot sauce. Goes down a treat.
