Located down the Windsor end of High Street sits a little pizza restaurant with a big story to tell. Small Print refers to small eco-footprint, the philosophy the team behind the restaurant are wanting to instil into their production of delicious pizzas.
As the food industry creates masses of greenhouse gas emissions which are slowly heating our planet, the menu at Small Print is all vegetarian and vegan-friendly using local and organic ingredients. The pizza boxes are made out of recycled materials and a portion of their profits go towards St Vincent De Paul, a society that assists those experiencing poverty and inequality. What’s more, they even have an industrial composter out the back which turns all food scraps into nutrient-rich compost which is then donated to community gardens around Melbourne.
Now onto the edible food...the roast pumpkin is an all-time favourite topped with vegan feta, sage, caramelised onion and toasted pistachios. You can even pimp your pizza with some fancy chilli jam or truffle oil or enjoy some sides to accompany your stone-fired delight like the cauliflower chips with smoked aioli... mmm. There’s a happy hour from 4-6 pm every day, as well as some delicious cocktails on offer like spiced mojitos and strawberry infused sangria. Why not save the big bucks and pair this with cheap Tuesdays where all pizzas can be scoffed down for just $15; what a win.
Pizzas can be enjoyed inside the small, minimalist restaurant with wooden tables and white-washed walls, at home delivered to your door or in the park. Order your pizza at the restaurant and it will be delivered, all for free, to the Victoria Gardens dog park across the road with a rug and park games like bocce and frisbee so help you work off that dough. So if you’re a greenie, a picnic enthusiast or just bloody love your pizza, then come and try out Small Print Pizza Bar.
