The Verdict
Your Nonna won’t have any complaints at St Domenico. From a range of Italian wines and Italian cured meats to speciality imported cheese and Stagioni flour, St Domenico takes everyone’s ultimate comfort food to the next, delicious level.
Starters are non-negotiable, with fresh, lusciously creamy buffalo mozzarella layered with fresh Roma tomatoes and fresh basil making it a must. Plump arancini stuffed with artichoke, fragrant smoked scamorza cheese and herbs technically come in share-friendly sets of four, but trust us, you’ll need extra.
Mains are rich, cheese-y Italian classics like homemade Gnocchi Alla Sorrentina with fresh tomato, stringy mozzarella and basil. Their thin, chewy-crusted pizzas are the ideal buttery base for combinations like leg ham with mushroom, scamorza, rocket and balsamic, but the house favourite is the san marzano tomato with hard-to-find san daniele prosciutto DOP and velvet-smooth fior di latte
You’ll also need to prepare to utilise that dessert stomach to make room for St Domenico’s Bomboloni—hot, fluffy, icing sugar-dusted Italian donuts stuffed with Nutella or lemon curd. Just to test your decision-making skills, Nutella pizza, traditional Tiramisu and panna cotta topped with salted caramel sauce is also on offer.
From prime people-watching spots at the front to long side benches, St Domenico is ideal for any and every occasion. Warm, with a no-frills charm, specials like 2 for $30 pizzas from Sunday to Thursday means there’s literally no reason to cook on weeknights.
