Preston's favourite brew bar has been charming locals for a while now, but there's something new brewing at Tallboy & Moose. The kitchen has recently been taken over by the guys from Wee Man's Kitchen. What does that mean? It means Scottish food! Haggis, Mel Gibson burgers, 'Glasgow salads' (hot chips, smothered in ketchup). And still, Scotland hasn't taken off as a food destination...the mystery continues.
Running the pass will be Scotsman Chris “Skillz” Orr, formerly the head chef at Rita’s Cafeteria in Abbottsford, and unapologetic proponent of "beer food". But even 'Skillz' knows that Melbourne isn't quite ready for proper haggis, so he's tweaked the recipe slightly. It's called Mr. Singh’s Haggis Pakor: a deep fried Indian dumpling with a spiced meat center. Even Haggis skeptics can get behind these things.
The rest of Tallboy is pretty much the same. There's still a table tennis table for epic beer-fuelled matches. There's still a plush little kiddies corner. And there's still a rotating selection of 8 craft bees on tap, takeaway growler fills and small batch frothies to try.
