The Verdict
The Grand Dining Room has an esteemed reputation for being one of the most refined fine-dining pubs in Melbourne. Located in Burnley, The Grand has a long history of culinary award nominations and accolades since opening back in 2003.
Having just celebrated their 18th birthday, they’re welcoming back guests with open arms after their hiatus through lockdown. The space still retains its hints of classic Italian features with traditional arches encouraging you to step into the warm, inviting interior.
With the renowned Maro Kobayashi now at the helm, you can expect an elegant uptake on classic Italian dishes as he combines his burning passion for Italian cuisine with his experience as a sous chef in Michelin star Italian restaurant Marea.
With a newly designed menu that features dishes such as the negroni cured kingfish crudo, roast duck with semolina gnocchi, and Kobayashi’s new signature, tiger prawn ravioli with chilli butter & pangrattato. There is also a range of exquisite desserts, like the lemon tart & mascarpone cream to round out your dinner.
If that isn’t enough, The Grand’s also serving up its own take of an Asian dining style with Italian Yum Cha. Expect mini baskets of steamed tortellini and gnocchi wheeled around, you’ll also be able to crunch on portions of signature pizzas and croquettes while taking in this unique experience.
