The Verdict
In the last few years, you could argue service has taken a backseat to picture-perfect food. Not at Highett’s little secret spot—The Little Elephant.
With a dogmatic focus on excellent service and fresh food, it’s easy to see why The Little Elephant is a much-loved local stomping ground. Tucked just off bustling Highett Road, The Little Elephant is a brunch oasis boasting a boutique seasonal menu.
Expect the menu to tick off your favourite brunch staples with a cheeky contemporary twist. The crunchy potato rosti is served—rather ingeniously—as a set of sliders topped with avocado, sticky honey pulled pork and poached eggs with tangy hollandaise. A decadent smoked trout omelette with sundried tomatoes, pickled fennel, crème fraiche and snow pea tendrils is also leagues above your morning eggs.
Peanut butter waffles caters to sweet-tooths, with maple cream cheese, spiced white chocolate and freeze dried raspberries topping freshly made PB waffles. It’s a must for any and all nut butter enthusiasts.
A range of slow pressed juices, healthy smoothies and coffee from Sensory Lab is on offer. Mini milkshakes with flavours like salted caramel popcorn or PB brownie will please your small humans, while adults needing something a little stronger on Sunday morning can enjoy a selection of local beers, ciders or wine.
