The Verdict

The Meating House may have a thing for puns, but it doesn’t fall short from meat heaven. The inconspicuous cafe, located in the heart of the CBD, aspires to create exceptional quality food inspired by the love of gourmet cooking and will leave you wishing you could never feel full.

The Meating House has an endless variety of mouth-watering dishes to cure any sort of hunger; however, we'd like to point you in the direction of a dish you won’t regret (but may get a little on your shirt): the famous Southern Sanga.

The brisket is slow cooked for 24 hours, ensuring that poignant southern flavour as well as ensuring that melt-in-your-mouth taste. The sandwich is then holistically completed with jalapenos and fried onions encapsulating the essence of the south. To add more fuel to the fire, the brisket is hand sliced in front of you, which leaves you plenty of time for drooling.

If brisket doesn’t tickle your fancy, both traditional and experimental pies are baked daily coinciding with an array of salads to excite your taste buds. And while it is called The Meating House, don’t despair if you are unable to eat meat: there are plenty of vegetarian dishes that are just as delectable as those with meat.

With eat-in and takeaway options available, feel free to stay and enjoy the bustle of the city in the background as you heave down one of their delicious meals or swing by before you head back to the office—whatever you choose, The Meating House has you covered on all bases.
