A Collingwood beer and burger joint, hold the ‘craft’ snobbery. Melbourne has been hankering for something like this for a while, and The Mill Brewery may have finally delivered. Tucked into a quiet side street, just off Smith St, the fit-out is classic beer hall: chunky red gum tables (beer just tastes better on timber), charcoal walls, cosy lighting and exposed everything.
The brews flowing are knockouts, as you’d expect, but the range is designed as a curated selection, not a free-for-all. Sip on a toastie Black IPA, Vanilla Porter or crisp and classic Pale Ale while chowing down on some seriously good burgers. Huxtaburger lovers can sleep easy though: if there’s one thing this town is big enough for, it’s more burgers.
