The verdict
Beloved by locals for its old-fashioned charm, Melbourne pub The Rose Fitzroy opened in 1886 and remains a favourite venue for catching up with mates over a few beers. The pub grub is top-notch (think chicken parma, bangers and mash, fish and chips) and The Rose takes it up a level with impressive dishes like the soy-lacquered pork spare ribs. And for something completely different, check out the recently renovated upstairs area. Fancy!
