The Verdict

Mother and son duo Jansen Andre & Deb Jayne opened The Vegan Shack in March 2018 and it’s been buzzing with breakfast and lunchtime crowds ever since.

With plenty of breakfast, lunch, snack and dessert options, The Vegan Shack is your number one guilt-free food destination in Richmond. Plus its interior is a colourful sight for sore eyes: no Scandi-inspired minimalist decor here. Just a lot of fun colours and decorations that are sure to put you in a good mood.

Whether you fancy a delicious Buddha bowl, a hearty breakfast (their big vegan brekky is sure to satisfy), or a heap of steamy nutritious-but-delicious chocolatey pancakes, there’s something for everyone at The Vegan Shack. They even offer a snag-in-a-bun they’ve dubbed the Bunnings Dawg, which is a polenta split pea sausage topped with sauerkraut, pickles, caramelized onions, vegan cheddar, with a mustard and ketchup drizzle and served on a matcha hot dog bun. It is—dare we say it—better than the real deal. But we’ll let you decide for yourself.

In terms of bevvies, The Vegan Shack offers plenty of options, from smoothies to superfood lattes made with oat milk, to kombucha and cold-pressed juices. And the best part? They’re about to make their own in-house vegan ice cream, just in time for summer.

The Vegan Shack is open from Tuesday until Friday from 6:30 am until 3 pm, on Saturday from 7:45 am until 3:30 pm and Sunday from 8 am until 3:30 pm.
