Melbourne’s latest vegan haven is here and it’s sweeter than ever. A dedicated vegan bakery and patisserie, Tidbit Cakes offers bespoke, whole cakes to order as well as a range of daily rotating treats.
Raw cake slice options may include raw salted caramel, raw snickers, or caramel tahini. Instagram-friendly slices of cheesecake, pastel pink macarons and cupcakes topped with intricate designs (think: gold dusted strawberries, roses made from icing and edible flowers) beg to be eaten from the glass cabinet.
Fresh vegan salads and sandwiches change regularly, and include roast sweet potato and barley salad with tahini dressing or a ‘prawn’ and Asian noodle salad. There’s also a classic ham cheese and tomato toastie with mock meat.
The ethical menu extends to the interior of Tidbit Cakes, which features three green walls and simple table settings. The entire space only seats 15, so if you can’t snag a spot, we recommend taking your goods to go and enjoying it under the sun (there’s also a dog park up the road, if you haven’t had time for your weekly dog spotting).
For your next occasion, there are six whole cake flavours available to order including cookie dough mud cake; or banana custard, caramel peanut and pretzel. No, you’re not going to miss the dairy.
