THE VERDICT

Mount Macedon Winery has just gone through one helluva glow-up, and within the evolution comes the introduction of Uumm, a fine diner focusing on the produce of Mount Macedon Winery and surrounds. 

It’s a protein-heavy menu at Uumm, with the likes of Otway free-range pork belly and cured Goulburn Farm trout leading the starters; meanwhile, the heroes span from an oven roasted Bare Bird chicken breast to a Goldfields lamb rump with tahini yoghurt and charred broccoli. 

Vegetarians and those after greens will be sated via a punchy charred asparagus along with a stunning Azzurri ricotta and braised leek tortellini to fill out the table.

Those who’ve visited Mount Macedon Winery will no doubt be aware of the jaw-dropping vistas that come part and parcel with the locale. Paid that with their versatile 2022 Estate-grown pinot noir or their easy-drinker, the 2021 rosé and you’ve got yourself a prime afternoon atop Mount Macedon. 

At Uumm, expect a choose-your-own-adventure menu consisting of two or three courses. Otherwise, those after a more relaxed dining experience can order up on wood-fired pizza (and wine) at Mount Macedon Winery’s cellar door—which in case you were wondering, also comes standard with a second-to-none vista.
