Nestled in the Melbourne CBD right near Southern Cross Station, V Wine Salon is located inside a gorgeous heritage-listed building that looks like it’s straight out of a European romance novel. Combining high ceilings with a more modern furbishing, the result is a chic, understated wine bar with a seemingly never-ending wine list.

The vino experience at V Wine Salon can go a couple of ways—they have plenty of options available, from exploring the menu glass-by-glass to a curated wine flight, where the team will guide you through three wine samples, coloured by your own preferences. They even have a retail shop so you can take home your favourite pour. However, if wine isn’t your drink of choice, the menu also offers craft beers and cocktails.

Alongside the extensive wine list, they’ve also got a few food options on deck. Drawing heavy inspiration from France, cheese, charcuterie and garnishes can be ordered, all selected to complement the wine selection. If you’re feeling a bit classic, they’ve got a fan-favourite baked Brie with truffle oil, honey and rosemary available.

Co-founder and director, Vianney Establet hails from Bordeaux, from a family of winemakers going back five generations no less. After developing his sommelier skills (in establishments such as Vue De Monde) for over a decade, he originally opened up shop in Abbotsford but has since settled in the CBD. He, alongside co-owner and general manager, Valentine Kuzniewski-Lebrun, run monthly masterclasses in shop, delving deep into wines from different regions and styles.
