The Verdict

With two cafes already booming in Balwyn and the CBD, it was hard to see how the White Mojo boys were gonna up their game. Where do you go after inventing French toast with hazelnut crystals and matcha meringue?

Turns out, you go to Glen Waverley.

The team’s third venue, White Mojo Plus+, has officially opened for business on Glen Waverley’s buzzing Kingsway. And trust us, it more than earns that ‘plus’.

This place is a little nuts: it’s got an in-house coffee roastery, where the crew hand-roast their own house blend, right before your eyes. There’s a specialty ‘toast bar’ too, stocked with everything from sourdough and multigrain to bagels and gluten-free. Toasters can choose from exotic toppings like chopped egg with babaganoush, pomegranate seeds and dukkah, whipped smoked eel butter with honey and black Hawaiian salt or peanut butter cream cheese and crisp belly bacon.

White Mojo Plus+ will be staying up later than its siblings, rocking a dinner menu till 11pm (if in doubt, go the Wagyu beef sliders).

“We have pulled out all the stops,” says owner Ben Luo. “Customers can expect the old White Mojo favourites, along with some very exciting new additions.”

If you’re already a Mojo fan, you’ll be happy to see a few familiar faces. The smashed pumpkin is back, as are the double cheese chilli scrambled eggs and the honey yogurt panna cotta. But Luo and the team are trying to kick things up a notch. Enter the Mad Mojo Waffles: fluffy Belgian-style waffles, topped with peanut butter semifreddo, passion fruit curd, vanilla ricotta, freeze-dried fruit, black sesame gel and sprinkled with peanut butter powder.
