Yakimono is a Toyko-chich style diner, located at 80 Collins Street. The Japanese restaurant is the long-time inspiration of restauranteur, Chris Lucas, who spent three years living and working in Toyko, and wanted to bring the atmosphere of the late-night Izakaya bars to Melbourne.
‘Yaki’ which means grill in Japanese foreshadows a lot of what you can expect from the menu. Helmed by Melbour ne chef, Daniel Wilson formerly of Huxtable, there a range of small plates, quick bites, and larger dishes cooked directly over the flames including the barbecued pork cheek with fermented chilli and sesame and whole miso-glazed chicken.
