360 ALLSTARS | The Civic
From Thursday through Sunday, a stellar cast of sportspeople and dancers will have you rethinking the traditional circus. Forget acrobats, this is all about breakdancers. And there’s no jugglers insight—instead you’ll find 360 ALLSTARS’ basketball freestyler. There’s also a champion BMX flatlander performing to the looping beat-box genius of Sam Perry and musician Gene Peterson. It all adds up to produce an urban circus that promises to impress.
BigMouth | Q Loft
There’s nothing quite like the power of the spoken word to start wars and revolutions and to inspire hearts and minds of listeners. In this one-man, five microphone show, Valentijn Dhaenens will shapeshift his way through history, exposing the voices of both good and evil. Get your tickets here.
The Chorus; Oepidus | Q Theatre
A Korean theatre work that uses music, movement and dance to relate Sophocles’ well-known Greek tragedy, The Chorus. Oedipus promises to be intimate in scale and epic in scope. A box-office hit in Singapore’s 2014 International Arts Festival, this is a fresh, contemporary show performed in Korean with English subtitles. Get the deets here.

Whether you’re all about honouring your Celtic roots, enjoy a bit of live ‘diddle-de-dee’ traditional music, or simply can’t resist the excuse for a Guinness at 8am, here are 15 ways to celebrate St Patrick’s Day in Auckland this Thursday.
Friday 18th March
The Life Aquatic | Silo Park
Head along to Silo Park this Friday for the best street food and markets, as well as the Silo Park Bar. When night falls, the Silo Cinema will start—this week it’s Wes Anderson’s, The Life Aquatic. Telling the story of Steve Zissou, whose partner has been eaten by a mythical shark, he suspects his wife of taking up with her ex-husband and a young man shows up claiming to be Steve’s son. Not only this, he’s got feelings for a pregnant reporter…recruiting a team (including his estranged wife and said pregnant journalist) to hunt for the mythical creature, this 2014 film will bring laughter and drama to the screen.

Auckland City Limits | Western Springs
We’ve been talking about it for months, and this Saturday, finally, Auckland City Limits hits Western Springs. Inspired and in association with the famous Austin City Limits, this festie will be an epic day out for music, culture, food and art fans. Punters can boogie, rock and rave for 12-hours straight. NTC Live | Next Generation, The Dome
This half-day fitness challenge is inspired by NTC Tour Sydney. Test your limits with NTC Live, which kicks off with an interactive, video stream of the NTC Tour opening workout, live from Sydney. Afterwards, keep sweating with a mix of Pilates, running or H.I.I.T sessions. Further deets here.
Cadbury Easter Eggstravaganza | Okahu Bay
The Cadbury Easter Eggstravaganza returns from 10am to 4pm this Saturday, with lots of fun and games for the whole family. There will be face painting, carnival games, a giant inflatable maze, as well as a special appearance from…you guessed it, Easter Bunny! It’s free entry, but make a $5 donation and you’ll receive an early Easter treat from Cadbury’s. All proceeds go towards supporting Make-a-Wish New Zealand.

Auckland Colour Run | QBE Stadium
Also known as the Happiest 5k on the Planet, The Colour Run celebrates healthiness, happiness and individuality. Now the largest event series in the world, The Colour Run has more than 300 events in more than 50 countries. Put on a white t-shirt and end up looking like a tie-dyed vat of coloured goodness.
Heineken Light Sunday Sessions | On The Water Edition
Make the most of the autumn rays with the ultimate Sunday Sessions presented by Heineken Light, Light Up Your Night. Head to Viaduct Harbour and go on a sunset cruise under the Harbour Bridge before anchoring up to enjoy beats from some of NZ’s top DJs—while enjoying some Heineken Light, of course.
Flavours of Fiji | Shed 10 and The Cloud
For one day only, five top chefs are serving up four delicious dishes for just twenty bucks. Yes, you read that right. But even better, that twenty bucks will go to Oxfam New Zealand, who are working hard to help the people of Fiji who were recently devastated by tropical cyclone Winston. Held at Shed 10 and The Cloud on Sunday, March 20th, Flavours of Fiji features four dishes created by Ben Bayly, Gareth Stewart, Mark Southen, Michael Meredith and Sid Sahrawat. Alongside the food, there will be a drinks station, music and live cultural performances.
