Weekend, we meet again. There’s a stellar line-up of events to get amongst including a mountain film festival, a Canada Day celebration, two wine-centric events and a dog walk. You definitely won’t run of things to do, that’s for sure!

Get cultured this weekend at Takapuna’s Bruce Mason Centre or at the Town Hall as the Auckland Symphony Orchestra presents Last Night of the Proms. Featuring more than 150 performers including Celtic dancers and bagpipers, it is a great musical selection conducted by Peter Thomas. Enjoy a musical journey of British pomp and ceremony—quite timely, we think.
The Green Living Show | ASB Showgrounds
Green has been the new black for quite some years, and The Green Living Show is the perfect event to learn, sample, win and get inspired. With presentations, sustainability practices, services and products from across the country, it offers four shows under one roof—Organic Natural, Healthy Lifestyle, Ecobuild and Clean Energy. If food is your thing (and of course it is) then you’ll also enjoy the Real Food Cooking Stage with non-stop natural food demonstrations. Noice.
World Press Photo Exhibition | Smith and Caughey’s
From Saturday, head along to level six of the Smith and Caughey’s Queen Street store to enjoy the award-winning photojournalism from around the world. This breathtaking collection includes the globe’s best press images in 2015 and offers a striking perspective as it includes the refugee crisis, the war in Syria, the Paris attacks and more. Expecting a lot of visitors, it is recommended that you go to the World Press Photo Exhibition early in the morning or late afternoon.
The NZ Scrapbooking and Craft Expo | Ellerslie Events Centre
Crafters, the event of the year is in Auckland this weekend with the New Zealand Scrapbooking and Craft Expo. Bringing together scrapbookers and cardmakers as well as those who love to stamp and papercraft their days away, this is the weekend to shop to your heart’s content, get new ideas and try new crafts.

For a night of laughter, head along to The Classic where Neil Thornton (TV3’s After Hours) will perform his popular NZ Comedy Festival show. On his futile quest for happiness and meaning, he talks wisdom, tragedy and triumph through his journey of philosophy, self-help and pseudoscience—and tells a bunch of dirty jokes.
The Biggest Canada Day Celebration In Auckland | Freddy’s Ice House
Celebrate Canada Day in style at Freddy’s Ice House. CityPets Community Dog Walk & Fundraiser | Waikowhai Park
Are you a busy body with a beloved cat or pup at home? CityPets is a service for pet owners with hectic lives who need a hand now and then. They offer a stay-at-home cat care, feeding and cuddles service, canine adventures and puppy socialising. On Sunday, CityPets is hosting a dog walk and fundraiser from 10am that will give you a chance to meet some doggies and raise money for an animal charity. A gold coin will be collected and a voting poll posted to Facebook to determine who will receive the proceeds! Get amongst.
