12 Fabulous Things To Do In Auckland This Weekend

Why hello there, November, it’s lovely to see you again! Yes, unbelievably, we’re into the second-to-last month of the year…how on earth did that happen? Not that we’re complaining of course. The weather is warming and the scent of summer is tickling our noses. Rest assured, that has Auckland heats up, so does the things to do.

Get out that planner and start plotting in your weekend adventures, because it’s going to be a good one.

All Weekend

Grease | Bruce Mason Centre

Grease is the word this weekend, when Rydell High’s senior class of ’59 hits the Bruce Mason Centre for a not-to-be-missed performance. Chances are, you’ll be wanting to get out of your seat and dance away.

As Night Falls | Herald Theatre

Dance troupe sensation, Black Grace, returns this weekend with As Night Falls. Choreographed by Neil Iremia, this explores equality and the value of human life to the backdrop sounds of Vivaldi.

Zen Dog: Satori | Basement Theatre

Three years after surviving a heart attack and two strokes, Mick Innes returns to The Basement with the sequal to Zen Dog. It’s also part of a fundraising campaign to see the story of his life made into a documentary, so head along and be inspired.

ITM Auckland Supersprint | Pukekohe Race Track

Some people just love their cars, and if you’ve got a little of the petrol head within (come on, you can admit it) then the Pukekohe Race Track is the place for you this weekend when the ITM Auckland Supersprint hits town. In their usual sibling rivalry, NZ and Australia go head to head in the ITM Auckland SuperSprint. But there’s also helicopters, autograph sessions, merch and a family zone if you’ve got sprogs.

Auckland Outdoor Expo | ASB Showgrounds

If outdoors are your thing, then you're in luck, the Outdoor Expo is this weekend. With a tonne of retailers with goods ranging from camping to hiking, and watersports and diving!  And that golden boy, Hamish Bond is set to be the motivational speaker.

Thursday 3rd November

Hacksaw Ridge | Various Theatres

Ever wondered what the heros during the bloodiest battle of WWII? Desmond Doss saved 75 men without firing or carrying a gun. Filmed in Australia and directed by Mel Gibson, it’s a great way to spend a weekend afternoon.

Friday 4th November

Ronan Keating | Vector Arena

You say it best when you head along to Vector Arena this Friday as Ronan Keating takes the stage. The Irish superstar has a whopping 10 albums to his name, with plenty of faves to rock your night away.

Saturday 5th November

Anika Moa Live | Hallertau

We just love Anika Moa, and this weekend she will be performing at Hallertau to raise funds for KidsCan. Her sweet tunes and rofl sense of humour will keep you more than entertained.

Ekko Park for Eat My Lunch | Eat My Lunch HQ

Ekko Park is presenting a special one-off concert in support of Eat My Lunch. After making a music video for single ‘Surface Breaks’ at the Eat My Lunch HQ, the band are bringing their unique and energetic live show to this special venue. On par with Eat My Lunch’s Buy One, Give One philosophy, for every concert ticket sold, a lunch will be provided to a kiwi kid in need.

Sunday 6th November

Matakana Vintage Market | Matakana

The Matakana Vintage Market have teamed up with Organic Herbs and Seedlings to bring a plant market to life this weekend. Pick up your new plants, and check out the other vendors as well. If you're spending the day in Matakana, this is defs worth a visit.

Auckland Symphony Orchestra Free Family Concert | Auckland Town Hall

The Auckland Symphony Orchestra are hosting a free concert this weekend that features some of the best composers and musicians around. Take your sprogs and listen as the music from the Harry Potter movies come to life. To top it off, there’s a fireworks display afterwards.
