OMG, it’s the weekend before Christmas! Not only that but this weekend brings the night before Christmas—we can barely contain our excitement! There’s no time for sleep now, with so much to do and so much fun to be had, it’s time to start planning all of the festive shenanigans you’re going to get up to. It’s also time to eat your weight in delicious Christmas nosh, and there’s a whole lot of events helping you do exactly that this weekend. It really is the most wonderful time of the year, with outdoor cinemas, theatre, early Christmas celebrations and so much more, let the joyful celebrations begin!

Yayoi Kusama: The Obliteration Room

Yayoi Kusama’s interactive obliteration room is making a home at Auckland Art Gallery’s Creative Learning Centre. The initial white walls, ceiling, furniture, and objects in the space will be covered over time by the mass build-up of dots into a dizzying blur of colour as you apply brightly coloured stickers to every surface. Explore the artist inside of you and move away from the traditional no-touching-zones of a Gallery space, encouraging you to touch, engage and create.

Sawmill, Snacks and Sounds Takapuna

Burger Burger’s bringing all of the live tunes, refreshing beersies and deliciousness to Taka all summer long and you’re invited! Joined by the good people at Sawmill Brewery, you’ll be treated to their thirst-quenching pilsners, Crystal Lager, XPA and Hoppy Hibiscus Gose. Live music will be treating you out all weekend long to up that Burger Burger experience—we didn’t even think it was possible!

Christmas Carnival | Boxing Day Races

The Christmas Carnival’s ultimate party—aka the Boxing Day Races—are back. Now in its 160th year (!), the event is filled with high fash, entertainment and a whooole lot of racing.
