Hooray—the weekend has rolled right around and we’re totally here for it. This weekend is looking like a pearler (despite what the weather might suggest) ‘cause it’s celebrations aplenty.

Germany is coming to us in the form of Oktoberfest events all around Auckland—that’s right, it’s time for beer, beer and more beer! Be transported back into the golden era of groove, in a couple of 80’s shows, or chill out at some markets ‘cause it’s just the truth that us Aucklanders can’t get enough of ‘em. Oh, and did we mention there’s a beer and bacon festival happening?! Game. On.

Welcome to Boogie Wonderland! This is an electrifying journey into a world of glamour and abandon—a raucous and seductive fusion of disco, dance, and circus. It redefines cabaret one show after another. Auckland on Water Boat Show

Get set for summer at New Zealand’s largest on-water boat show! A Festival of Russian Ballet

Following sell-out performances of Swan Lake and The Nutcracker, the Imperial Russian Ballet Company returns to New Zealand! This is one stunning program in three awe-inspiring acts, all magically different in their own right. Performing this three-hour ballet extravaganza all around the world, its thrilled audiences and impressed critics worldwide. The Acts include Don Quioxte, Bolero as well as a special third Act including highlights from the world’s great ballets.

The Bluestone Room Annual Beerfest

If you can’t make it to Germany this Oktoberfest—get to the next best thing! One of the most popular beerfests in the city, the Bluestone Room knows what’s up. Expect a live Oompah band, Erdinger Weissbrau on tap, and German fare for a night of fun and frolic.

Te Atatu Night Market

Wind down from the week at a local night market! Filled with a line up of scrumptious street food, you’re best to come hungry. Not only that, but there’ll be lots of shopping to be done including handmade local produce, clothing, toys, vintage, vinyl and so much more. DJs Jason Eli and Lee Dewerson will be on the decks, so bring a date, catch up with friends, bring the kids—it’s the perfect way to wave goodbye to the week that was. For the kids there will be Mr Bubbles will be on bubbles (surprisingly), free face painting galore, games, a balloon artist and a sweet playground!

The Chamberlain Tap Takeover #2

If you consider yourself a bit of a craft beer-head, get a load of this! Black Dog Brew Co. brings their kegs with multiple award-winning craft beers including Carrot Top, Chomp, Pango, The Dogfather, Pug Life, Mangos Into A Bar… (haha) and more! It’s a pint off between these brews, and all you have to do is vote for your favourite beer at the end and winner “takes the tap”! Doc Edge Presents: GABO, The Creation of Gabriel Garcia Marquez

Oktoberfest at Underpass

Preztels, beer, and bratwurst… the Germans sure know how to party! Though it may be a little hard on the wallet to make your way over there, it doesn’t matter—the party is coming to us! Underpass is hosting their own slide of Oktoberfest in the heart of Auckland, with great beer, traditional German snacks, as well as Oktoberfest games and prizes. Auckland Animal and Pet Expo

Kick off your month with your best friend fur-ever (sorry) at the Animal and Pet Expo at the ASB Showgrounds. The happiest show around, expect everything from the cute and cuddly, fluffy and famous to the wacky and wonderful. There will be hunderds of the latest pet products, show only specials and free samples, your furry best friend is about to be one happy camper. Pet-less pet lovers aren’t excluded, there will be creatures great and small on show—puppies, kittens, birds, rabbits, turtles and chinchillas to name a few!

Festival Italiano 2017

The largest Italian Festival in New Zealand is back in Newmarket and bigger than ever! Covering four streets over Newmarket, there will be al fresco restaurants, an Italian market with more than 40 exhibitors, live music, exhibits, Italian cars and bikes and so much more! If that’s not enough, you can even be in to win a trip to two to Italy with the Dante Raffle.

Though Monday may just be around the corner, it is our firm belief Sunday deserves to be just as fun as the other two days! The Chamberlain is getting involved in Oktoberfest celebrations—and a good place to start is their 14 (!) beers on tap at all times! There’ll also be German food specials for you to feast on, DJs, entertainment and live music—they’re going all out! Zeelandt Brewery Steins and beer specials are cranking all day, including a $30 Stein and Sausage deal!
