15 Stellar Things To Do In Auckland This Weekend

By Hana Okada
12th Oct 2017

We're ready to conquer all of the events on this weekend because they’re too good to miss! From an Italian feast and a festival for all your fitspo inspo, to the activewear sale of our lives and cultural celebrations galore, this weekend’s agenda is looking lit AF.

Forget a 48-hour Netflix marathon and endless UberEATS (as ideal as that sounds!)—it’s time to get ready for the freakin’ weekend with these fabulous things to do in the City of Sails in our favourite three days of the week.

All Weekend

Oktoberfest Weekend

It’s not over yet! A week after the Oktoberfest celebrations in Germany end, the partying starts here—not just for a night but a whole freakin’ weekend! The Fiddler is (temporarily) moving away from its Irish roots and bringing us local and international talents, as well as original Oktoberfest tunes between the sets to really transport you to Munich. Expect ice-cold beers in steins, pints and handles, and a big night ahead—we hope you have your lederhosens at the ready.

Where: The Fiddler Irish Bar, Auckland CBD
When: Friday 13 October—Sunday 15 October

The Play That Goes Wrong

Starting off as a London fringe production with only four paying customers at its first performance, it's now enjoying its third year on the West End, playing to an audience of more than quarter of a million! Its Fawlty Towers meets Noises Off, everything that could go wrong in this catastrophic masterpiece… does. The accident-prone cast attempts to put on a 1920s murder mystery battle against all odds to get to their final curtain call.

Kick off the weekend the right way—with a beer in hand, of course! The Brewers Co-Operative is celebrating pouring their 10,000th pint of Liberty Knife Party with the guys at Radio Hauraki and Liberty Brewing Company and you’re invited. They’re offering $10 pints of Knife Party to anyone dressed in formal attire (at the very least a shirt and tie!)—there ain’t no party like a formal Knife Party.

Goode Brothers’ Feast of Italy

Italy comes to Auckland at Goode Brothers during the Feast of Italy month-long event. Friday the 13th is the last day you can get in on this scrumptious action, so you best get in quick if you haven’t already! The three Auckland Goode Brothers venues are showcasing the best of Italian cuisine from a different reason—time for a restaurant crawl, we say! Botany embraces Rome, NorthWest and New Lynn say “ciao!” to Genoa and Napoli cuisine. You could even be in the chance to win a trip to Florence for two—though you might already feel like you’re in Italy at this rate!
