15 Totally Awesome Things To Do In Auckland This Weekend

It's time to do what us Aucklanders do best—drink, eat and shop ‘til we drop! There’s a couple boozy options, some arts ‘n’crafts, theatre and foodie delights on the agenda this weekend and we plan to conquer them all! Celebrate another five days of adulting and get ready to count down the hours ‘til 5pm Friday ‘cause it's time to treat yo’self to another fabulous weekend.

There’s something for everyone this weekend—craft beer, food for the gram (literally!), markets and street eats, you’re about to have a very busy and beautiful three days comin’ at ya!

Waterlight Grafitti

Illuminating Aoeta Square, this beautiful interactive art installation needs you! Made of thousands of LED lights, the installation’s giant street art screen illuminates when it comes in contact with water. Grab a paintbrush, spray bottle or even damp fingers and sketch a drawing directly onto the light up screen! Let your creativity run free at this eco-friendly art piece through the magic of water, lights and illumination.

The Baby Show

This is one big show about the little ones! New Zealand’s biggest one-stop shop for all things infants, tots, sprogs, bundles of joy—whatever you call ‘em, The Baby Show has got you covered! It has everything you need to navigate from pregnancy to preschool including tips and tricks, fun-filled entertainment and show only specials!

Matilda The Musical

A little genius is coming to Auckland, in the form of Matila the Musical! This multi-award winning musical from the Royal Shakespeare Company, inspired by the beloved book by the incomparable Roald Dahl will be sure to blow you away. This story of an extraordinary girl armed with a vivid imagination and a sharp mind, dares to take a stand to change her own destiny, is a winner of more than 70 international awards and is on a strictly limited season in Auckland, so get in quick!

Auckland Craft Beer Tour

The Auckland craft beer scene is really brewing and bubbling and there’s so much for you to discover! Full with unique flavours and handcrafted expertise, there’s more and more microbreweries popping up and now is as good a time as any to get amongst and do what you do best—drink beer! Visiting three different bars and pubs with 12 beers to taste, this walking tour is like no other!

The Pickle King

The South Afreakins

A dark comedic solo show about leaving everything you’ve ever known and starting over again. Written and performed by Robyn Paterson, Helene and Gordon are stuck in South Africa in the same rut finally immigrate to New Zealand, and the result is a heartbreaking and hilarious journey as they discover the hard work that goes into finding “home”.
