Yippee, it’s the weekend! What’s better, ‘tis the season for eating your weight in novelty-shaped chocolate (the best kind) and all sorts of flavours of hot cross buns! Overindulgence aside, you’re best to stay in the big smoke this weekend ‘cause there’s so much to do—groove at the Jazz Fest, create tunes with a six-metre tall sculpture, dine in the dark, and get to alllll of the Easter-themed events!

Expect this weekend to be filled to the brim with chocolate, dancing and excitement with all of these epic things to do in Auckland for Easter's long weekend.

Waiheke Jazz Festival

You know you can’t help coming back year after year to this wonderful annual event of smooth jazz and good times. Headlined by Dave Dobbyn, this year’s Jazz Fest has loads on the agenda—kicking off on Friday at Rangihoua Estate, there’ll also be evening shows at Morra Hall, as well as a late-night wind down sessions at Aperitivo Wine Bar. An easy 15-minute walk from the wharf, why not make a ‘Waihekend’ of it?

Royal Easter Show

Roll up, roll up! The biggest fun-filled show is back in town! We’ll tell you a few of the events from the endless list on offer, but you’ll just have to get there and bask it all in yourself. Sign up to a talent show for a share of $10,000 (to be spent on more Easter chocolates, duh), hit peak New Zealander with some sheep shearing, hold in your hot dog lunch on the thrill rides, and get a ticket for Zirka Circus’ never-before seen death-defying show! We’re sure you’re convinced already but if not, there’ll also be a spectacular fireworks display on at 9pm in the weekend as a cherry on top.

Easter Seafood Selection

A seafood high tea, yes please! Expect not one, not two, but three tiers of mouthwatering, quality seafood coming your way. On the first tier, it’s oysters, tuna tataki, hot smoked salmon brioche, on the second, alllll of the artisan breads, and the third tier stars seafood mini pies, battered flounder, and fresh green lipped mussel, and so, so much more! Can you say seafood heaven?

Volume: Making Music in Aotearoa

Walk in as a museum visitor, but walk out a rockstar, a singer, a DJ… the possibilities are endless! Light Bells

Aotea Square turns into an interactive symphony in this light and sound experience. Pull the ropes off this six metre high public sculpture and listen as the bells ring and your surroundings are illuminated. Tuned to a musical scale with eight different pitches, it compliments the Auckland Town Hall clock tower bell just perfectly. Make a trip up to the Aotea Arts Quarter with your kids, or round off a perfect date night with some light and sound magic!

Henry V

Soljans Berba Harvest Festival

Grape harvest time = wine time! The annual Berba Croatian Harvest Celebration is kicking off this weekend, and it comes with all sorts of fun—grape stomping, winery tours with owner Tony Soljan, live music, and FREE wine tasting!
