Dubbed as ‘Auckland's biggest backyard summer party’, Auckland Live Summer in the Square kicks off this weekend—and it’s free entry! Beginning on Thursday for the month of December, there's lots of Christmas cheer at Stardome! With a special presenter-led Christmas Night Sky show, you'll be full of astronomical facts to impress over the Christmas dinner table.

The fact that this ballet is the favourite to perform by the dancers themselves, it’s sure to be something special. Thursday 1st December

First Thursdays Carnival | Karangahape Road

This is First Thursdays’ last carnival of the year—make the most of it! Karangahape Road’s quirk meets Mardi Gras extravagance on First Thursdays and this is your last chance to get amongst. With samba dancers, street food and Brazilian dancers, it’ll get you dancing into the weekend. And, since Latin dance classes are available, your dancing is set to be taken up a notch.

Friday 2nd December

Silo Park Outdoor Movies | Silo Park

Starting this Friday and all through summer, bask in the warmer nights with the outdoor Silo Cinema. Park up a chair and check out all the drinks and food on offer before getting into the movie. What’s better than Santa? A giant Santa! You can catch the man himself at Manurewa Santa Parade this Saturday. Set those alarm clocks though because there’s also pre-parade festivities to attend! With lots of food on offer and a great show with more than 30 participants—including a brass band and youth orchestra—it’s set to be a smashing day. 

SUP Yoga Takapuna Beach | Lake Pupuke

Stand up paddle boarding and yoga aren’t two things you would usually see in a sentence, let alone an event, together. But here it is, and it’s beckoning your name. Head down to Lake Pupuke and learn the ropes with Yoga Fire NZ. It kicks off at 10am and will let you get your flexibility on atop a paddle board for your first taste of summer.
