The weekend has rolled right back around in this stellar city of ours, and it’s bringing some incredible events with it. If you love beer, this weekend is bound to be a standout one for you—there’s a kegload of exclusive beer events around Auckland for Auckland Beer Week! Now, if you like beer, cider or food (so… everyone?) there’s the standout GABS Beer, Cider and Food festival to tackle! It’s also the last weekend to catch some incredible productions, so nab a ticket and prepare to be transported into a different world.

The cold is no match for us, ‘cause we’re ready to take on a full weekend of beer-y fun activities, show-stopping productions and, in true Auckland style, some fabulous markets to top it all off. There’s no time to waste, so get your diaries out and start planning. This weekend is guaranteed to be a big one with all these things to do in Auckland.

Garage Project at Satya Chai Lounge

Welly legends Garage Project teams up with the newest location from the cool kids behind Satya Spice and Chai Shop for a beer experience like no other. Taking inspiration from the Silk Road, expect ginger pineapple pilsner, jasmine lager, and cascara and cinnamon bock. A total of 18 beers will be ready and waiting, including six matched with owner Sammy Akuthota’s favourite dishes from the Chai lounge.

Million Dollar Quartet

The Broadway and West End smash hit musical is hitting Auckland’s shores! Celebrating a historic moment in rock ’n’ roll history that was 4th December 1956—an unplanned get-together of the four most popular rock icons of all time, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins at Sun Studios in Memphis, Tennessee. It turned out to be one of the greatest jam sessions—of all time. Grab your friends and get six tickets for the price of four to jam your night away at this rockin’ musical. It’s the last weekend of this stellar performance so you know they’ll close it off with a bang!

Best of British

Promising bigger and better, expect big things from round two of this British takeover brought to you by Galbraith’s and Beertique. There’s 70 (!!) kegs from English, Scottish and Welsh breweries to get through, and that’s where you come in. The brewery line up includes Adnams, Beavertown, Magic Rock, Tempest, Thornbridge and for the first time ever in New Zealand, Tiny Rebel! There’s two more special breweries being air-freighted just for the event, so (responsibly) drink allll the beer as this might be the only time you’ll see these special one-off beers halfway across the world!

Weber Bros Circus

These circus legends are back with their brand new show Adrenaline! They’re back after an eight (!) year tour around the world to impress us Aucklanders with all their tricks and treats. Aside from the delish and oh-so-nostalgic circus popcorn and candy floss you have to look forward to—Adrenaline brings their impressive set of cirque artistry and acrobatics, as well as their Globe of Death and one of the only surviving Human Cannonball acts (right over the heads of the audience!) to have you white-knuckled and holding your breath for these crazy performers’ lives!

Power Ballad

This part performance lecture, part karaoke party deconstructs gendered linguistic histories to newly articulate pleasure, anger and what it is to embrace femaleness. Smash what you already think you know and start again. Break down barriers, laugh, learn, and sing a couple power ballads at this stunning performance. It’s also on its way to travel to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, so support our Kiwi creators and help make this happen!

Auckland Live: Aotea Square Ice Rink

It’s baaaaack, and it’s brought a couple friends along! GABS Beer Cider and Food Festival

There’s nothing quite like the GABS Beer Cider and Food Festival in the world—a combination of the largest number of craft breweries and cider makers in Australiasia, a high quality curated food selection and entertainment like no other! Auckland’s Flavour Fave

Vultures’ Lane is delivering the best of what Auckland has to offer—in the form of beer! Nine Auckland breweries are serving up what they consider their best and most interesting creation. Mum’s Wine Trail—Not A Nappy Bag In Sight

It’s time for you to drop the kids off for a play date ‘cause it’s wine time! Sound like your kind of bliss? This is MumVine’s first official event, and it’s sure sounding like a mum heaven! Get picked up in a coach to take you to your mystery first vineyard to taste ten (!) different wines, and then move along to Soljans Vineyard for another tasting and a behind-the-scenes tour for all the ins and outs of winemaking! You’ll be then absolutely treated to a high tea with bubbles (more. wine.)—or tea if you really want it—before being transported back into the city in a state of delightful harmony. Snow in the Park

Who said our winter is just wind and rain? While it is for the most part, escape all of that and experience a little bit of winter wonderland! There’ll be all the snow-related fun you could imagine, plus more including a toboggan run, sled racing demonstrations with Siberian Huskies, bouncy castle, climbing wall, and a snow play area. Of course you’ll be hungry after all this fun, so loads of food trucks will be at the ready too!
