Long weekend, we are SO ready for you. Especially when it's in Auckland and we’re celebrating the anniversary of this fabulous city of ours.

We’re not exaggerating when we say this weekend is chock-a-block. Some of Auckland’s most iconic annual events are going down this weekend, mixed in with our usual faves.

With festivals everyday (yes, seriously), markets, fireworks and a cruise all being on the agenda this long weekend, it's best to start planning now—this long weekend is going to be epic. Here’s all the good stuff you have to look forward to this Auckland Anniversary:

Pilates In The Park | Various Locations

Make the most of this unreal summer sun and try some Pilates in a park near you. MatWorks are hosting outdoor Pilates sessions for all ages and abilities—there are sessions daily at more than 17 parks across Auckland!

Auckland Live Summer in the Square | Aotea Square

Auckland’s biggest backyard party continues to impress this summer. There’s events on all weekend—rent an e-bike, learn how to salsa, grow your own garden or take a tour of the historic Civic theatre! There’ll be something to take your fancy for sure. Make sure you don't miss the Kai Auckland Gardening Workshops, a movement that aims to help Aucklanders become more sustainable and do some good!

Ha! The Classic Comedy Summer Festival | Auckland CBD

Auckland’s comedy institution The Classic hosts a summer of shows that’ll have you in stitches. With lots of new shows in store, like a comedy debate series and Future Quiz, where there’s no wrong answer—just the best one. To top it all off, proceeds to some shows are also being donated to The Key Life to Trust, working toward suicide prevention in New Zealand.

Silo Park Weekend 8: Life of Brian | Silo Park

Prepare yourself for some absolute absurdity! Kicking off at 5pm, there’s the Silo Bar for a brew or two and some amazing food trucks, to get you ready for the main event—Monty Python’s Life of Brian! You’re bound to be at Silo Park all weekend, as there’s markets and live music on Saturday and Sunday!

Movies in Parks: Born to Dance | Otahuhu

Born to Dance is a coming-of-age story about a young Auckland man who dreams of being a hip-hop dancer. Choreographed by New Zealand superstar (of Justin Bieber “Sorry” music video fame) Parris Goebel, it’s going to be a night of stellar dancing, an uplifting message and some good ol’ kiwi humour.

Tāmaki Herenga Waka Festival | Auckland CBD

Embrace rich Māori heritage and culture this Auckland Anniversary weekend. On until Monday, there are Auckland’s top kapa haka group performances, workshops, crafts, and kai. Not only that, but there’s heaps of on-water events too— tribal waka races, have-a-go waka experiences, AND get to see the reigon’s only active iwi mana whenua waka tauā (war canoe), Te Kotuiti.

Mix It Up Painting Event | Auckland CBD

Seeport Sunset Symphony and Fireworks | Auckland CBD

Auckland Anniversary Regatta Amada Cruise 2017 | Auckland CBD

All aboard the luxury multi-level cruise vessel Olympic Spirit! Auckland’s Waitemata Harbour comes alive and you will be as close to the action as possible. There will be aerial displays by the War Birds and Red Checkers, and you can see it all from one of the two vast viewing decks.
