Summer was an absolute scorcher and brought a level of humidity so epic it had us running (let's be honest—making a lethargic crawl) to the nearest pool to cool off. While any pool is a welcome relief, with a little foresight you can be relaxing in total luxury.
So, while we're close to autumn, in case the Auckland weather lives up to its reputation and throws us a curveball (spoiler alert: it will) we’ve scoured around for the Airbnbs with the prettiest pools in all the land (Auck-land that is) so you can feel like an absolute mermaid princess.
Here are 8 of the best Airbnbs in Auckland with the prettiest pools.
Everyone loves an infinity pool and the one at this Cape Cod-style Waiheke home might just become your all-time favourite. Complemented by a three-level deck, sweeping gardens and views of Onetangi Beach and beyond, this Airbnb is purpose-built for spending your days poolside. The space sleeps ten guests across seven bedrooms, features a wonderful library and, come nightfall, the pool turns a brilliant shade of blue and the fire table comes into play. That’s right, a fire table. *Mic drop.*
Half Moon Bay
It’s said your home is your castle and never has that been more true than of this home which is an actual castle. Created as a show of love when a Kiwi fell head over heels for a girl from South Africa you’ll delight in a getaway within these castle walls. The pool is massive and comes complete with an inflatable orca, then there’s darts, pool and foosball tables and a shaded spa so it’s safe to say there won’t be a dull moment. Book the whole castle or one of the three suites, each with its own private entry.
All your worries will melt away once you slip into the pool at Tradewinds Waiheke. Perched on Park Point peninsular you’ll be treated to stunning panoramic views of channels and islands of the Hauraki Gulf. The Airbnb is made up of a four-bedroom house and a one-bedroom apartment and between the two there’s everything you could ever desire from a stone bathtub and outdoor fireplace with pizza oven to two indoor fireplaces, games and a spa pool. Even basalt stone floors and a kauri dining table. The house sleeps 11 guests across the five bedrooms.
For a dip in a rainforest, Titirangi Haven should be top of your list. The 100m swimming pool is secluded—surrounded by native trees—and overlooks the ocean. The house is spread across three levels and includes two large decks, a peppermint kitchen and a BBQ. It’s within metres from French Bay and Wood Bay, is just 2km from Titirangi Village with all its wonderful cafes and galleries, and is a short drive from Auckland’s iconic West Coast beaches.
At this point, you’re wondering how on earth you’ll choose from all of these exquisite spots, and the Luxurious Clifftop Tihi Lodge isn’t going to make your decision any easier. Sleeping ten guests across the main house and a separate, more private penthouse, and with mind-blowing views from just about everywhere, this could be perfect for a get together with extended family. Some of the features include gorgeous freestanding baths, a rainforest shower, an indoor fireplace and an absolute plethora of spots to curl up in.
For a Mediterranean-inspired experience book into Muriwai Estate. After waking to ocean views you’ll wrestle with the incredibly difficult decision of whether you’d like to relax in the onsen-esque spa or glorious saltwater pool (for that authentic mermaid vibe) before deciding you can absolutely do both. Come evening you’ll huddle around the outdoor brazier and tuck into a cheeseboard. This luxurious Airbnb sleeps 14 guests across seven bedrooms and heck, there’s even a helipad for if you want to make the ultimate bougie entrance.
Jaw-dropping ocean views, bold architecture and a huge private pool. Chapman House at Parihoa Farm really ticks all the boxes. Designed by internationally acclaimed architect, Andrew Patterson, you’ll be swimming in style, not to mention soaking in the views of the West Coast Tasman Sea 150m below you. The house has four bedrooms, each with its own bath, and can sleep eight guests. Our favourite part? Floor to ceiling doors bordering the pool can be pushed back to reveal the picture-perfect hills behind.
Set on an equestrian lifestyle property the ridiculously gorgeous NZ Summer House has major Bachelorette fantasy date vibes and we’re living for it. Sleeping just two guests, this is the perfect pick if you’re looking for a more intimate getaway. The indoor styling is immaculate with polished wooden floors, plus there’s an enormous pool, a hammock to chill out in and a cosy outdoor fireplace that just screams s’mores. If you get sick of all that (will you though?) A short walk will take you to Riverhead Forest.
