Raglan’s 4 Best Campsites To Pitch A Tent At This Summer

By

An incredible purple sunset from Solscape, one of the best camping spots in Raglan.

Ahhh Raglan, a bohemian jewel in Aotearoa’s crown. It’s a beautiful, vibrant, relaxed concoction of surf, spice and good vibes, and it’s best savoured over a weekend, at the very least.

While there are plenty of cute accomodation options in and around Raglan, there’s nothing quite like camping so we’ve rounded up the cream of the crop (vegan cream, that is—let's be real). Take your pick and feel any big city stresses melt away.

Here’s where to find the best camping in Raglan.

Raglan Holiday Park

Marine Parade

The go-to, and one of Raglan’s best camping, Raglan Holiday Park is family-friendly, includes all the essentials—ablutions block, communal kitchen, and easy parking—and it’s within walking distance to several beaches and Raglan township.

Raglan Backpackers

Wi Neera Street

Whether you’re travelling on a budget, want to meet like-minded people or are just up for a bit of an adventure Raglan Backpackers is the place to stay. The hostel and camping ground boasts a prime location in the heart of town right by the harbour. Park up your van and spend the night.

Solscape

Wainui Road

If you’re looking to unwind, relax and recharge, Solscape’s the best Raglan camping ground for you. Don’t expect five-star amenities or for everything to be glistening clean—but if you’re looking to spend time in nature or meet like-minded people from around the world, all while enjoying a sensational ocean view, Solscape might just be a bit of you.

Raglan Bowling Club

James Street

If you’ve got a self-contained campervan—i.e. it has a functioning on-board toilet, wastewater tank and rubbish bin—you can camp for free for up to eight hours (a.k.a. ‘Freedom Camping’) on James Street, between Wallis Street and Cliff Street. Smack bang in the middle of town this is, hands down, the cheapest and best camping site in Raglan, provided you can snag a space.
