From milkshakes to margaritas, burgers to bao—MOGLY Bar And Eatery is bringing a whole lotta deliciousness to the South Auckland suburb of Ormiston. Located on the edge of the still-evolving Ormiston Town Centre, this is one seriously epic spot and it's open for your eating and drinking pleasure every day of the week from midday until late.
Before we get stuck into the menu, we'd like to take a minute to appreciate MOGLY's incredibly cool fitout. The space is broken into two distinct sections—a restaurant, featuring cosy little cubbies that look like miniature houses (so cute!)—and a bar, complete with an open keg room, selfie birdcage and a selection of bevvies so big, they need one of those rolling ladders just to get to them all. You should also know that there's a private karaoke room, decked out with a super-sized couch and four microphones. A couple of cocktails deep, and you know it'll be calling.
The food is seriously salivating, and focuses on the kinda cuisine we love (think burgers, curly fries, pizza, fried chicken, sticky ribs, bao buns and hawker rolls, along with some sugar-saturated desserts for the sweet tooths).
And again, it's the little touches that get us. We've never seen so many cute names for dishes—think Sweet Baby Cheesus (crumbed mozarella sticks), The Notorious V.E.G. (a veggie burger), and Mac Me Happy (their mouthwatering cashew-based mac and cheese). Naturally, you'll need one of their tasty milkshakes to wash down all of that top-notch grub or if you're in the mood, something a lil' stronger (this is a bar, after all).
May we suggest their candyfloss-toppped, turkish delight-flavoured Tipsy Unicorn (seriously, could this place BE any more up our alley?), one of a range of signature cocktails that will see you returning to this South Auckland spot, time and time again. And while it might seem like all fun and games, rest assured that these guys take their tipples seriously—they have partnerships with Malfy Gin and Absolut and offer a dizzying array of top-shelf options. And if beer's more your drink of choice, you'll be stoked to learn that they also have their very own MOGLY ale on tap.
So whether you're after a belt-stretching comfort food feast or a good ol' night on the town complete with drinks, dancing and a cheeky trip to the karaoke room to channel your inner Ari, do yourself a favour and make the roadie out to MOGLY.
