Smack bang in the centre of the action—500 metres from the coast and the Len Lye Centre—The Devon Hotel had us at 24-hour room service, which just so happens to be our number one when it comes to New Plymouth hotels.
Making the deal even sweeter, they deliver on our second favourite thing about hotels too—a buffet that’s chocka with local produce. Food aside (we can’t believe we just wrote that), The Devon Hotel boasts an outdoor swimming pool, free parking, a fitness centre and a bar. Sorted.

If a vital element of your dream getaway is a large bathtub to soak in (ideally with a Lush bath bomb), you’re in luck—rooms at Novotel New Plymouth Taranaki have a gorgeous bath to stretch out in, so you can revel in those mermaid moments.

This spot makes our list because they’ve got a shub (for the uninitiated, a shub is a glorious creation that’s both a shower and a bathtub) like you’ve never before experienced—this shub is also a spa bath. Yesiree, this is not a drill.
Okay, so that’s not the only reason Distinction New Plymouth is one of the best hotels in New Plymouth. It’s complete with a bunch of key hotel trimmings, like an on-site fitness centre and restaurant, and free parking, plus, it’s an easy stroll from local sites like Richmond Cottage, Puke Ariki and Real Tart Gallery. Legit.
