Auckland’s Best Quiz Nights To Test Your Mettle

By

People sit down to the quiz night at Coops, one of the best quiz nights in Auckland.

There are few better ways to beat the mid-week blues than rounding up a bunch of teammates, coming up with a ridiculously epic name, and hitting a quiz night. Grab a pie and a pint, put your thinking cap on, and get ready to put those fun facts and obscure knowledge you learned from TikTok to good use.

Assemble the right collection of misfits and you might even win that highly-coveted bar tab. Here are Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland’s best quiz nights. May the odds be ever in your favour.

The Bridgman

234 Dominion Road, Mount Eden

Pull up a pew at The Bridgman on a Tuesday night and score a generous side of quiz with your smashed double cheeseburger. Drawing a crowd of regulars every week, a spot in the ‘Believe It Or Not’ is highly coveted.

As you’d expect, there’s fierce competition for the bar vouchers which are dished out to first, second, third and—wait for it—second to last. Now you’re talking. Email hello@thebridgman.co.nz to book.

Every Tuesday night, American-style Schapiro’s Sports Bar hosts a ‘Believe It Or Not’ pub quiz, keeping you entertained with audio and visual cues. Get a motley crew together, swing by for a 6.30pm start and battle it out for a bunch of hefty bar tabs over smash-style cheeseburgers, fried chicken wings, Dr Pepper and iceberg wedges drenched in green goddess dressing, you know, for balance.

Brothers Beer

5 Akiraho Street, Mount Eden

Lip-smacking burgers and 18 taps of beer aren’t the only things Brothers Beer offers to Tāmaki Makaurau. Every Wednesday they serve up the trivia with their very own quiz night from 7pm. Better still, from 4-6pm they’re slingin’ a whole bunch of food and drink specials—practically essential to switch the brain from work to play mode.

Citizen Park

424 New North Road, Kingsland

One of the oldest and best quiz nights in Auckland takes place every Tuesday at Citizen Park. And The Good Spirits Hospitality Master Quiz isn’t messing around with great prizes up for grabs. Past goods have included a luxury trip for six to Queenstown (including accommodation and flights), as well as a $1000 cash raffle. Dang.

Revelry

106 Ponsonby Road, Ponsonby

Revelling in the cocktails at Revelry, that just happens to host one of the best quiz nights in Auckland.

Also taking place on Tuesday nights is Revelry’s Quiz Night. Kicking off at 7pm, the quiz runs for about two hours but we recommend heading straight there after work to get amongst their delish happy hour cocktails. And don’t forget to fuel your team with some top-notch eats.

Flex your intel at Coops Corner Pub every Wednesday night from 6pm, frozen marg in hand. Yesiree, this is not a drill—the liquid libations at this oceanside haunt secures its spot among Auckland’s best quiz nights.

Hosted by live DJ Benny Boy, the Coops Super Quiz is aptly named with free entry and rad prizes. Better still, it’s the perfect excuse to get a couple of cheeky tequila ice cream scoops in, or to smash back a frozen marg. Stoked.

The Chamberlain

Britomart

Every Tuesday through Saturday from 4-7pm the beer and wine is a-flowing—half price, at that—at The Chamberlain’s ‘Tappy Hour’. And every Tuesday night you can channel those good vibes straight into a (hopefully) winning quiz team. If that sounds like a bit of you email drink@thechamberlain.co.nz to lock in your squad.

Academy Cinema

Central Library Building Basement, 44 Lorne Street, Auckland City

Now, if you consider yourself a hardcore film buff (and by that we mean you live and breathe film and have a penchant for peculiar details), you might like to try your hand at Academy Cinemas' monthly-ish quiz night.

Deliciously enigmatic, this is the type of quiz you only know about if you know about it, if you catch our drift, making it, hands down, one of the best quizzes in Tāmaki Makaurau. Teams of 3 to 6 people can register. Email management@academycinemas.co.nz to get amongst.
